Emalkay - When I Look At You - i'm STILL listening to this song. yes i've put it here before, but if you haven't gotten it here it is. it's fucking insane, even Pitchfork put it in their "best new songs", like that's how big this track is! serious it blows minds.

Trolly Snatcha - The Future - ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE. trust me this song blows minds fool. if you like the dubstep i've been posting this song will blow your face off, it's puure filth! repetitive, yeah, but if you care you're not listening to it loud enough. or if you're not smiling and nodding your head the first time you hear this, you're also not listening to it loud enough.

Eddie K - Who's the Hardest - oh man this one's nuts, the bass just doesn't even stop. one of those songs kind of like the cockney thug caspa remix where the bass just rolls? yeah it's like that where it just keeps coming haha, there are no breaks! huge fan, very heavy.

The Others - Bazooka - prettty sick basslines in here. a bit repetitive, but still made it here didn't it? the first time i head this song i had to have it. now you do, enjoy fool!

Noah D - Seeeriousss - sseeeeerrriousss?!?!?!?!?! this one has that blaaring bass with a sick lead synth sounding thing on top. turn it up! this one's sick to just listen to.

Jakes - No Respect - this one's last cause it's okay. honestly, i just really like that punchy bass drop that actually sounds like a trunk rumbling, so it feels like it's really loud no matter how loud you listen to it. anyways yeah this is dubstep.

oh how i would love to kick with the fray

so recently i found the best single existant in my entire music library. I KNOW RIGHT!? no seriously it's amazing, i love it, i love it, you will too. it's xiu xiu and parenthical girls' split cover of smiths songs, and it happens to be one of my favorite smiths songs too. the covers they did are amazing, as one would expect. they kept the lyrics and the general melody of the songs but xiu xiu'd and parenthical girls'd them. they almost have an eeeeerie sound. it's a really interesting and incredible listen, cause i haven't heard anything like this really. the two songs i'll post are actually an split single released by xiu xiu and parenthical girls, and the mp3's are 320, cause i rule.

anyways, in this post i will review both tracks, as they are just that good.

Xiu Xiu - I Am Hated For Loving (Morrissey Cover)

This xiu xiu song in particular makes it to the top 3 of my favorite tracks by them. it maintains the xiu xiu style while covering a particularly shitty song by morrissey. while starting off slowly with a fade in rounded kick, it gains intensity with the usual xiu xiu noise, however further in the song the most incredible bloops and beeps start sounding, and it's just toooooo wicked. of course soaked in distortion, the bleeps really really add to the otherwise fairly typical xiu xiu sounding tune. sometimes adding reverb and more or less distortion also changes up these beeps, so it's just a really refreshing thing to hear. together with the stabs of horns, this song is somewhat unique in terms of a cover. the vocals are also fairly awesome, adding the xiu xiu misery to morrissey's confident tone. in conclusion, when keeping in mind this is a morrissey song, which would mean it would have nothing out of the ordinary in it at all, i think xiu xiu really did well here in terms of providing an interesting cover, which in my opinion, is better than the original.

Oh my god this song blew my mind. This parenthical girls cover is getting an insane amount of plays by me recently. it starts off with piano notes, eventually working into the handsome devil guitar riffs, but ever so off tune as if it was in some sort of horror movie. almost sounds as if it were by the misfits or some other band we all listened to in grade 10. when the drums come in they make the song more up beat and dance-able, really. really. although different from the original drumming, it's still pretty wicked. the vocals are also very well done. i've always loved this dude's voice, and he really does the trembello of morrissey's well. anyway further in the song there's some feedback and what not to add to that eerie effect i mentioned, and then when it gets to the part where it says "i said, i said, i i said" all these awkward horns coming in drowning out anything else, really, which i find fucking coooool. it happens again a few times but the song maintains the same patterns till some slow part, which, i'm not really that big of a fan of. it's alright i guess, got some cool 80's sounding snare in there, but whatever. the BEST part of this song is after he says "i'm going to get you......(piano noise)....you handsome devil"after that slow part, the normal ending comes in, but with these amaaazing creepy strings added! it's absolutely incredible in my opinion. they just add that last touch to make the song amazing. then those crazy intense horns attack you again, and then it's fairly serene till the end but with some synth in the background this time, not bad. necessary though, because if you had the cool horror strings during the ending with great lyrics like "there's more to life than books you know, but not much more" i think it would just make that one section less significant, seeing as how it's right after that slow part. it ends with that off tune guitar again, and i'm satisfied. (note: i'm not reading this over, fuck that,so if it doesnt make sense, that's okay)

Oi Oi Oi was alright you know? some really intense songs but not much you could listen to all the way through. this one's a big change. it's got some crazy wicked songs like "trooper" and "starter", which are just heavy while being able to just listen to without being too repetitive. i don't know, it's just good. you really should listen to trooper though, it's insane, getting tons of plays on my ipod lately!

Hollertronix Vol. 10

hollertronix 10 released! this is the last of the series, so enjoy it. it tries to stay with the previous concept of versatility, being able to be played by a dj or in your car or your headphones! "Rage" is a pretty nuts song, reverb makes that lead synth sound really cool, almost as if you're hearing it in a massive auditorium of some sort, which i realize is the idea of such effect, but it's done well haha.

i just thought i'd throw this last treat in! i've been listening to this song a lot, but not for the actual main song. the last minute or so, starting on that mp3 i just linked at around 2:45, is fucking insane! i love it, i really really love it. it's just so, so nice to listen to. it's really nice music. if i could play guitar, i'd learn to play this for sure. if you want to listen to more, here is the album! but honestly i'm just a fan of that song haha.

i can't believe i haven't posted this yet. i love this album. high places is a band from brooklyn, composed of one guy and one gal. the girls voice is heavenly. it's really soft and they put a lot effects on it to make it softer, it's really nice. the music is tough to categorize. i'll trust wikipedia and say experimental though. it's really nice to listen to, and i really recommend the download. listen to "From Stardust to Sentience", i'm pretty sure you'll love it. it's really nice music to listen to in any mood, that's a big reason of why i like it i guess. anyways, i hope you like it as much as i do!

i like No Age. Saw them at Lollapalooza, semi impressed, out of 10, maybe a 7.5. This EP is pretty wicked, and it's similar to their old stuff. This is what i really like about No Age, they sound the same. Not all the songs sound the same, but their sound itself. Remember the first Alexisonfire album? how incredible it was? listen to the new one, you'll puke! No Age keep the whole distorted guitar and crazy drums thing going on but they do it with consistency throughout different songs. That mix is insaaaaaaaaaaaaaaane. that first drop will blow your mind, and it maintains being wicked for a while. 6 minutes in or so is a new version of his pro nails remix (i think), and it's outrageous. It's slow, but that's what makes it so good. the oscillators of the bass together provide a wickeddddd grizzle with such smooth bass. the kick and snare are so punchy too, i mean, you just have to listen. got her toes done up with her fingernails matchin'!!,,!!!

fuck buttons released a new lp, and there it issssss. i'm a fan, but not as much as i was of their last album. Don't get me wrong, it got quite the listen on my ipod, but some songs are just not great. This is the thing with this album though, you have to listen to it while you're doing something. You can't really just sit and listen, because it'll be boring. When you're walking to class, or riding your bike, or driving, or combing your hair, or swimming, or juggling, or working at home depot, just listen to it. Olympians is really good, but it gets good like 4 minutes in, it's that kind of music. It's like an orchestra, all by computers, which i like. give it a try, yo!

I found this album a while ago, but i didn't really look into it until one day i opened up the dashboard on my computer and saw the digital post it note with the name printed on it. When i started listening, the first song gave me the chills. THE CHILLS! i love that. the singers voice is one you'll either love or hate, but i love it. if you think his voice is bad, listen to the new Girls album, you'll seriously fucking die. anyways, the Ballad of the RAA is an incredible song. the retro casio sounds with the xylophone and just ah it's great. Don't Haunt This Place is also pretty wicked, even my dad likes it, and i'm pretty sure you will too.

o0o0o0oh, the knife. i'm a huge fan of this album. not only did it get me through driving school, but it's so different and awesome i want to adopt it. the knife are a swedish duo formed in 1999. apparently they are siblings, too, haha. the band although being started late ninties, only seemed to gain recognition mid 00's (?) as they had never even played live until 2006. This album is their latest, and also their greatest (haha). the effects on the vocals are awesome, and the knife just have this sound to them that is recognizible. this album even got pitchforks "album of the year" in 2006. theres only one or two songs on the album that i dislike, which, is rare for me. the album is composed of odd sounds not typically found, which i love. "like a pen" is composed of water drop-like sounds, for example. the combination of the male and female duo, neat voices, cool sounds, and even cooler voice effects, this album is a stroke of genious, and a must have in one's itunes library. you'd be a fool not to get this one, fool!

alright so my fucking computer crashed again. the other one this time. just when i get my itunes in order, the BIOS or something messed up. fuck you technology! but anyways. i stumbled across this album..i don't really know how. just usual paroosing on the internet and such. i initially liked the cover. i'm a sucker for bold plain font. however, upon first listen, i liked it quite a bit. it's kind of like a catchy sleeping states, if they were to play faster and with distortion and solos. i really ended up loving the first song, which i'm currently listening to again. the thing with me, is, that i get bored of albums fast, and this album is a victim of my ever growing music thirst. it didn't quite have anything distinctive, or enough so that i would listen to it for more than a week or two. however, i find the music well coordinated, with little piano bits hidden and soothing organ-ish sounds to top off the songs. however, as i said, it didn't really keep my intrest all that much. worth a download: yes! worth the last little space on your ipod: maybe..

to start this off, i expected a lot more from this album. don't get me wrong, the songs on it aren't that bad (less than half in my opinion.) but only TWO (2) are by, or in part by, A-trak himself? i mean i understand that it might be kind of cool to realease mixtapes these days, diplo did one, blaqstarr does a bunch, to name a few, but if you're going to, make it one with songs that 1) are new, 2) are really good and mesh well together. diplo's mixtape release with santogold (now santigold? haha justigold) was awesome. it had unreleased stuff by him, and a bunch of other people that all colaborated in order to make an album. to me, that's what an album is composed of. to me, this album is more like an essential mix he made or something, that's just another mp3 in my itunes, just in 21 songs as opposed to one. i'm not quite sure though, imean, i could be wrong, but i don't think that any of these songs are rare and unreleased or anything, so it's just kind of a usual mix...except on a cd in stores.

i don't know, i don't mean to pick on it or anything, but i guess i was pretty let down by this album. worth the grab for the Holy Ghost! song alone, though.

Peter Bjorn & John's previous album "Writers Block" got a lot of listens from me. the song "objects of my affection" was rediculously awesome, and if you havent heard Young Folks you should come out from under your rock. But, this is their newest LP release. i read an interview in a magazine that said they made this one with more synths and crazy sounds, as opposed to more other instruments i suppose they mean? i guess they're just saying that they're sticking with the latest trend, which is electro synth'y stuff. don't get me wrong though, i'm kind of into the album. i prefer their previous, but you should have that in your library already! but if you don't, maybe i'll post it later.i havent really given it a thorough listen, cause honestly i'm still into the No Age album i posted the other day. (post below, if you havent got it already, get it nowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww). but anyways, yeah, get this duder!

i've always been a huge fan of casiotone. his much is so...raw, and just...basic, that it's incredible. his lyrics are probably my favorite of any artist. anyways, this cd is kind of like a collection of rarities, and it's fairly new. i definitly reccomend it. the song "hot boyz" (although, weird title) is absooollllloutly awesome. i don't know, but i love it. it's insane to snowboard to, so fun. the last song is also awesome, called "voice of the hospital". the lyrics in "it's a crime" are so clever too. this dude just rules, and he looks like someone in the office who would shoot the place up. but yeah, if you're a fan, get this! i definitly would. and i did.

i first heard this album in The Beat Goes On, which is a used cd store. the stores pretty small and i was probably looking for smiths albums or something haha, when i heard the song over the speakers and i loved it. so i asked the guy who worked there the name of the song and artist, and when i came home i searched for the myspace. yeah it was that long ago, myspace era. anyways i loved it, and i got this album. it was probably like 2005, and for me to still like an album after 3 whole years is outrageous. i still love this album. the singers voice is incredible, and the lyrics are pretty good too. i reccomend listening to every song at least once, i mean, give it a thorough listen. my favorite songs are baby we'll be fine, the geese of beverly road, and mr. november. but honestly, this is an incredible album. get it fo sho, trust me, you'll like it! would i lie to you?

alright so i said i'd post some of the music i listened to on my vacation, and i'll post a couple songs for uuuuuu.

The Smiths - There is a light that never goes out if you know me well you know i'm a huge fan of the smiths. i always seem to discover songs by them that i like by just stumble upon with my ipod on shuffle, and that's how i found this song. the lyrics are really cool, which, morrissey is good for. i really reccomend this song, and many others by the smiths.

Diplo - XR2 (Turbo) I love diplo. M.I.A's original XR2 was also made entirely by diplo, and i guess he made a cool remix. i listened to this on the bus on the way to the resort, and every time i hear it now i think of that, it was coooooooooool. so download it. the horns are craaazzzyyyyy.

Joakim - I wish you were Gone I really like this song. i always like songs with cool lyrics, and i think the title is really cool for some reason. it's catchy and by the end it's only repeating "and now, i wish you were gone" with tons of crazy sounds and it's just a DOPE song so download it please.

Justice - D.A.N.C.E. (Justice Remix) soo justice remixes their own songs? hah and they stole the beat from the MSTKRFT remix, but whatever. this version is better than the original and any other remixes. i listened to this quite a bit over the vacation actually, because i watched the DVD that comes with A Cross The Universe about 4 times, haha.

Morrissey - i'm throwing my arms around paris i had read the lyrics before i ever heard this song and thought they were cool. the song is pretty good, but i don't like the rest of the cd. i think morrissey's losing it, to be honest. the smiths were awesome, but his own stuff is pretty hit or miss, the majority being miss.

i've been a fan of dan deacon for a while. i even got to talk to him...via facebook chat. but whatever, it was cool, i was in class and bored as shit. his stuff previous to this has been of all sorts. His album "Spiderman of the Rings", which came before this, is what i'd describe as some sort of electronic noisy yet awesome and happy freak-out music, haha. This cd seems to be a little more toned down, however still true to his roots. i reccomend this for sure, as well as his previous album, which i may post later. i'd say it sounds like:

honestly, i have no idea why i haven't thought of putting this up yet. i love this album. it's noise rock stuff. i got the album because they were supposed to open for crystal castles when i saw them, but crystal castles couldn't play that night, so HEALTH played basiclly a full set. these guys played so loud i almost went into a coma. i was right at the front, but it was still insanly loud. It was an incredible show, and i really reccomend this album! i can't really compare it to bands, but i guess it's kind of like AIDS Wolf + Xiu Xiu + the album leaf, but, that's just kind of what i'm throwing together in my head right now, haha. listen to the song tabloid sores, crimewave (which, crystal castles remixed to get their single), // M \\, and glitter pills. i listened to glitter pills religiously at one time, and has a solid spot on my itunes' "Most 25 played" playlist. just download this, you dig?

HOWEVER. he did record with Major Lazer, who, if you don't know, is a colaboration with diplo and switch, who, if you don't know, rule really hard. watch andy recording vocals in what looks like a home studio with diplo and switch below. fuck i'd kill to switch places, even if it means taking his model like body.

sorry for the lack of posts you guys. who knew updating would be such a pain in the ass! just kidding, but no, not really. no i was, this is fun. i've been real busy these days though, so that's why i've been M.I.A (zing!). anyways, i've been scooping up a lot of music latley, but i seemed to keep coming back to this one song.

it's called "Lesley Gore on the TAMI SHOW (instrumental)". I have no idea what that means either. It's on the casiotone for the painfully EP i put on here a million years ago with the animal collective ep.
anyways, i had seriously been listening to this song over and over when it actually occured to me that it was an instrumental. yeah i've been bizzy. so, i found the normal version, and i also realized i had the original original, so, to you i present all three versions of this song. trust. it's really catchy! i promise.

this year i've had a huge change in music taste. my musical horizons have broadned quite a bit and i've been into a bunch of different shit, so to speak. i've been listening to a lot of house and that kind of music, and i've been playing it at parties and such, and people have been coming up to me saying that they like it. therefore i have decided to share with you 5 songs i've played quite a bit, and are my favorites at this very moment in time as i write this. i'm only uploading 5 because sendspace only let's me do 5 at a time, and it's an annoying process. but anyways, the first song is:

This song rules. every time i was messed up this summer me and my friends would blast this in our car on the way to dons, it's good shit. epicly minimal though, so after a minute, you've heard the whole song really. but it's probably the one people like the most!

i've heard this song in a mix, and i liked it so much i tried to remember the name but forgot. i recently got the WeSC ed banger bongo ( as seen above ;) ) and i went to the ed banger myspace and found this song, so i took it off of the website. anyways, the track is simple, but incredible.

this song is amazing because the beat is so cool, and it's actually more like a song you'd hear on the radio. i don't really know what else to say, but you've probably heard this anyway.

this song has one of the best beats in a house song i've ever heard, no lies. i heard the original track in DC MTN lab, and when i heard the remix i died.

Rusko's Essential Mix (link on website. right click, save target as) - This is a whole new type of music to me that i'll probably talk about again later. dubstep is like a house version, minus any other sound but tons, and tons of bass. it's also very in order, but not, you know what i mean? idk, but, about 2 minutes into the song, you'll get what i'm talking about.

Sinden's "We make it good" mix (link on website. right click, save target as) - This is an incredible mix that doesn't really have a terrible song in it. it's one of those very few mixes you can play all the way through, so, download it!

Domingo is some random band that i don't know how i found. I know that the picture above attracted me to download their album though, so hopefully the same applies to you. i looked so, so hard for this album and finally found it, and put it in my favorites. i thought i'd share it with you, so luckily the link was still there hah. They kind of sound like mates of state if they were on morphine, and given guitars instead of a synth and drums. oh, and they're from paris, so you know they're good. this is their debut album, and i really hope you like this cd as much as i do.

i'm not sure when this ep came out, if it's even an ep, or where exactly it was recorded, but this shit's solid gold. seriously, this is a really good ep composed of four songs titled Planisphere Part 1-3 and Planisphere final. theres not much else to say, except that if you also havent seen the justice "A Cross The Universe" DVD, i suggest you get on that.

also, as a bonus little christmas suprise for you loyal readers, i have also uploaded a song that i've been fucking obsessed with for the past while. I got it from the movie Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind. It's called Phone Call (right click, save target as). also extremly recommended. it's an instrumental, a minute long, and is a total representation of my life, so download it!

i don't remember where or when i got this cd, but it's really good shit. sometimes i download multiple cd's at a time, and then forget about one or two, and that's what happened to this one. i stumbled upon the song "Planning my escape" with shuffle on my ipod one day, and i really liked the song. This music totally changes my mood when i listen to it, and i really like it alot. If you don't want to download the whole album, i uploaded Track 06, called Contact Lunacy (right click, save as) for you. (if you're a generally impatient person, skip ahead to around 1:35 seconds in the song, and prepare for your mind to be blownnnn). It's an incredible song and every time i hear it i think, i just can't stop thinking. it's a meaningful song to me, so i thought i'd share. enjoy.

Diplo + Santogold - Top Ranking

diplo was probably the first dj i got into, even before he started making house-like music that he is now. he was in Hollertronix, which was a band including him and DJ Scottie B. they made a cd called Never Scared which was an incredible mash-up cd, which girl talk later tried, but way before him, and much better. this mixtape is his latest, which has gotten him a lot of credit, even being a nominee for "album of the year" for URB magazine. Diplo produces Santogold, M.I.A, i think is doing something for Dark Meat soon, and much more. M.I.A and diplo dated, too, and she's also been accused for taking credit alot of his songs/beats. if you've listened to diplo for a while, and then listen to M.I.A's "Kala", it really seems that way. in conclusion without diplo, M.I.A would not exist, as far as good music goes (in my opinion).

anyways, i got off topic, but this is something different to what i usually post. it's a mixtape, so has various artists. i think you'll like it though, and if i could reccomend a few songs, i'd say "Im A Lady (Diplo Mix Ft. Amanda Blank)", "Lights Out (Diplo/Panda Bear Mix)", oh and "Barbwire" is amazing(ly cool)!

I've always been an actually pretty fan of casiotone, but now the quality of reording doesnt suck, so it's actually starting to sound like music! don't get me wrong though, i still like the older, shitty sounding recordings quite a bit. this is the newest ep, with some pretty original songs, i mean, not much sounds like this guy, i think. Green gloves is getting heaps of plays on my ipod these days too. It's ripped from a vinyl as well, so it's got that muted static sound to make it even more special.

i don't listen to that much animal collective, other then the song fireworks, which i listened to non stop for a while. i even have around 8 live versions, it got obsessive. i found this new ep though, and i like it. it's not loud and crazy or boring, but has some slow songs that have parts in them that are exciting, so it's actually a pretty awesome ep. Street Flash is an amazing song, which, i definitly reccomend downloading the album for.
